Puch Story Telling
History
Johann Puch (1862-1914) began producing bicycles in 1889 at a small workshop at Strauchergasse 18a in Graz, Austria. He was passionate, if not obsessive, about hard work and superb craftsmanship, and he founded the First Styrian Bicycle Company in 1899.
According to his contemporaries, Puch was a "doer", untiring and completely dedicated, though exactly what drove him is a mystery. We know very little about Puch the man – most of the private items that could have shed light on his personality were lost during the second world war. What is certain is that Johann Puch had an amazing flair for innovation, a passion for fine craftsmanship and a remarkable knack for employing the best technicians, craftsmen and machinery. It was not long before his company had become a shining success.
Puch today
Johann Puch's passion for fine craftsmanship and his talent for innovation are so deeply ingrained in the company that they still inform everything we do. Quality and innovation in design and technology – the traditional hallmarks of the PUCH brand – continue to be our priorities, even in 2005. Just as in the company's early days, the 2005 PUCH collection features innovative, new bikes and exclusive designs alongside traditional models. City bikes, trekking bikes and fitness bikes are all included in the range. PUCH bikes have been available through retailers in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands since spring 2005.
The future
Learning from the past while thinking about the future is as integral to our philosophy as our belief in continuing a great tradition.
